How Standards Proliferate

This image demonstrates a problem in standards-setting communities - that the solution to the diversity of standards is to design more "encompassing" standards. That it is in comic form also demonstrates that folks in standards-setting communities know that it is a proble. We have seen this play out many times at RDA, where well-meaning groups attempt to design "canonical" standards that can sort out the differences amongst other standards.
